Leeds have been interested in signing Kent for some time and were linked with a £2.5 million move for the 20-yer-old back in January.  It was reported earlier this month that Leeds were keen on Kent once again, this time on a loan rather than a permanent deal.

Journalist Alan Nixon has today provided Leeds fans with an update on the situation, stating that Liverpool are still yet to make a decision on the winger’s future.  Kent has spent his entire career with Liverpool but has made only one first-team appearance for the club so far.

Coventry City took Kent on loan for the first half of the 2015-16 season and the winger did well in League One.  He scored one goal in 17 appearances for the club before being recalled in January 2016.

Last season, Kent was sent out on loan once again, this time to Championship side Barnsley.  A first-team regular, the winger scored three goals and registered three assists in 44 Championship games to help Barnsley to a solid mid-table finish.  He also won the club’s Young Player of the Season Award.

For Liverpool’s Under-23 team, Kent has got 15 goals and nine assists in 40 games but is yet to find a similar goalscoring touch at senior level.

Kent is rated very highly at Liverpool and could be sent out on loan again this season in order to further his development in the Championship once again.  If Leeds do manage to sign the winger, it will be a definite boost to their hopes of getting promoted this season.

Leeds are also interested in Aston Villa defender Tommy Elphick, but could lose out to Birmingham.
