Premier League defender tells club he wants to join Fulham over Hull City

Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas has told that club that he would rather join Fulham than Hull City, according to Goal.

Kalas, 24, spent the whole of last season on loan at Fulham and wants to return to the club this season.  The defender scored one goal in 39 appearances in all competitions, helping Fulham to finish sixth in the Championship table.  Ultimately, Fulham lost out to Reading but will be looking for a play-off place once again this season.

Kalas has recently signed an extension to his contract with parent club Chelsea, which means he can be loaned out again.  Chelsea do not allow players in the final year of their contract to be loaned out, so Kalas would have had to sign an extension if he wanted first-team football this season.

Along with Fulham, Hull City have also been linked with signing the defender.  However, Kalas would prefer to stay in London rather than make the move up north.

Beginning his career with Czech side Sigma Olomouc, Kalas signed for Chelsea for a fee of around £5.2 million in 2010.  In seven years with the club, he has made only four first-team appearances.  The defender has spent most of his time out on loan, making no fewer than six temporary switches since signing.

Last season, Kalas only appeared at centre-back for Fulham.  However, he can also play at right-back if needed, as he has done 60 times in his career so far.

Re-signing Kalas on loan this season would be a big boost for Fulham, especially if they are to challenge for a play-off spot once again.
