Hull City have taken Jon McLaughlin on trial as confirmed by the club’s Twitter account.
The Tigers look like they might be in the market for a new goalkeeper very soon. Their usual number one Eldin Jakupovic is being tracked by former Premier League champions Leicester City as they look to replace Ron-Robert Zieler and that could be a deal that is completed very soon. Because of this, Hull will need to look for a new shot stopper who could replace Jakupovic should he head to the King Power Stadium.
And now Hull will take a close look at McLaughlin as they consider signing him. He has joined the Humberside club on trial and is now with the squad as they go on tour in Portugal. For him, he will get the chance to impress the coaching staff there and show why he could be a potential replacement for Jakupovic should he elect to leave the club.

McLaughlin was last at Burton Albion and was a shock release for them this summer. He was barely out of the team in the Brewers’ historic first season in the Sky Bet Championship and was proven to be a steady set of hands as they remarkably avoided being relegated from the second tier. Now though he is looking for a new club after becoming a free agent and he will be hoping that this trial with Hull will, lead to a contract with them. This would see McLaughlin going from a team battling against relegation to one trying to get promoted.
