Sheffield Wednesday Goalkeeper signing – Three potential names

Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper, Keiren Westwood, has been linked with a move away from the club for a few weeks now. Garry Monk of Middlesbrough is a big admirer of the Irishman. If the worst does happen, for Sheffield Wednesday fans, and he does leave. They clearly need to sign a new one. So here are three potential names that the Owls could potentially sign.

Lee Grant

Lee Grant was Stoke City’s number one for quite a while last season due to Butland being out injured for most of the season. He impressed many in his time as first choice keeper. In the 28 Premier League appearances he conceded just 34 goals, which is 1.2 per game, and kept an incredible nine clean sheets.

In January 2017, Stoke bought Grant off Derby for just over £1.2m. Although it might seem as if him leaving just six months later is very unlikely, Grant is 34 and if he’s being offered football week in week out it may be something he can’t turn down.

They’ll be able to get Lee Grant for quite cheap given he is now a backup keeper at Stoke. He is an excellent keeper with quite a few years left in his career. If Westwood did leave, this man could be the perfect signing.
