Tottenham enter race for Karl Darlow
Tottenham have become the latest Premier League club to show interest in the Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Karl Darlow, according to both the Nottingham Post and the Daily Mail. Liverpool and Chelsea are also said to be monitoring the progress of the highly-rated 23-year-old and could be seen as a useful asset for teams who will play European football next season because of his ‘home grown’ status. It is understood that Stuart Pearce will be under no pressure to sell any of his young stars but with interest also circulating around Henri Lansbury and Jamaal Lascelles, a few big money offers could be enough for Forest to let their prize assets go.
Hull poised to move for Harry Maguire
The Sheffield Telegraph are continuing the story concerning Harry Maguire’s possible Bramall Lane exit today and are today reporting that Premier League Hull City are lining up a move to acquire the services of the highly-rated 21-year-old. This could scupper the chances of Wolves to sign the defender despite their long running interest in the player who has been a feature of the England under-21’s. It is unlikely that Maguire will reject a move to a Premier League club and, if Hull do follow up their interest with a formal offer, Nigel Clough may struggle to keep Maguire in South Yorkshire but Sheffield United are set to make a couple of additions in the not too distant future however, with Tranmere Rovers’ James Wallace reportedly on the cards.
Aneke to Leeds?
Sky Sports are reporting that Leeds United are interested in signing Arsenal youngster Chucks Aneke who is out-of-contract at the Emirates this month and looks set to leave. If Aneke does leave, Leeds would be able to sign the 20-year-old on a free transfer and, following an impressive spell on loan at Crewe, they see the midfielder as an attractive option. Crewe were hopeful of making the youngsters spell at Gresty Road permeanant but they are set to face stiff opposition from teams higher up the football pyramid. Aneke is expected to attract interest from other Championship clubs if and when he leaves Arsenal.
Crainey to Barnsley?
Barnsley are lining up a move for former Wigan defender Stephen Crainey, according to Sky Sports reports. Wigan released the left-back earlier this summer and the 32-year-old will be seen as an attractive proposition considering he is a free agent. Barnsley will face competition if they want to sign Crainey, but manager Danny Wilson is thought to see him as a big part of bolstering his squad this summer following relegation to League 1. Crainey would be a sensible signing for Barnsley and could be key to help them win promotion to the Championship.
