Oguchi Onyewu takes his future seriously

Out of contract American defender Onyewu has decided to weigh up his options before he makes his decision as to whether he’s going to stay at South Yorkshire club, Sheffield Wednesday. The American signed a short-term deal in January with the Owls, and as a result, the defender finds himself out of contract. Even with the regular first team football, Onyewu has no secrets about wanting to play at the highest level. “It’s always a possibility that I will stay at Wednesday. But I want to weigh up my options before I make a final decision.”



Cardiff want to keep Campbell

Cardiff City striker, Fraizer Campbell, could be on his way to recently promoted Leicester City, however, the Bluebirds’ Chairman, Mehmet Dalman, has expressed his desire to keep the 26 year old in the Welsh capital. It is thought that the Premier League newbies have made an £800,000 bid for the striker. Dalman told Wales Online, “We don’t want to sell him and would love him to stay but we had no choice because of the clause.” He went on to say, “We have to allow Fraizer [Campbell] to make his own decision but hopefully he can stay.”

Clough interested in Tranmere’s Wallace

Sheffield United manager Nigel Clough has expressed his interest in out-of-contract midfielder James Wallace. However a compensation fee would have to be paid were the 22 year old to move this summer. Wallace would be Clough’s fifth signing of the summer after already capturing the services of Marc McNulty, Jamal Campbell-Ryce, Andy Butler and Chris Basham. Clough told The Sheffield Star“It’s still early days. James is out of contract but things like compensation still need to be agreed, so there’s plenty of work to do.”


Preston sign Jones

Leyton Orient goalkeeper Jamie Jones has agreed to join Lancashire club, Preston North End once his contract expires on July 1st. PNE manager Grayson told the club’s official website, “Jamie has had two good years at Orient, being at the top end of the division, being very consistent and he is still young with lots of improving still to be done and we feel he will fit in well to the group.” Jamie Jones said, “It feels great to be signing, a club like Preston is where I want to be at this part of my career and it is where I want to try and push myself to be in the next division and Preston’s goals are exactly the same as mine.”


Jim Fenlon leaves Wimbledon

Jim Fenlon has left Wimbledon after failing to agree a new contract with the club. Boss Neal Ardley told the club’s official website, “Jim had an option on his contract, which would have taken him up amongst the highest earners at the club”. He went on to say, “This was an option that we felt we could not take up considering his form and attitude during the past 12 months.”


Burton sign Mousinho

Burton Albion have acquired the services of midfielder John Mousinho on a two year deal. Mousinho was released by Preston North End and as a result has arrived by free transfer to the Pirelli Stadium. Brewers’ boss Gary Rowett told the club’s official website, “We’re delighted to sign John. He was our number one target for the summer and he’s a fantastic player,”. He then added, “He brings experience from playing at League One level before, as well as his size and athleticism. […] we’re really pleased to sign him.”
