Three Premier League teams want to sign Hull City midfielder

Three Premier League sides are interested in signing Hull City midfielder Sam Clucas this summer, according to the Hull Daily Mail.

Clucas was a key player for Hull as they looked to avoid relegation from the Premier League last season, scoring three goals in 41 appearances in all competitions.  The winger’s good form has attracted interest from Premier League sides Burnley, Leicester City and Swansea City this summer and the three clubs will battle to sign him.

After Clucas was so key for Hull during their last promotion campaign in 2015-16, the club will really not want to lose him.  However, the midfielder only missed one Premier League game last season and could be tempted to make the move back into the top flight.  It is believed that Hull would be looking for offers in the region of £12 million.

Clucas spent his youth career with Leicester City but was released at the age of 16.  He then signed for Lincoln City but was released once again a year later after making only one appearance.  After a year in the Glenn Hoddle academy, Clucas made the move to Hereford Town.

In 2013, Mansfield Town bought Clucas for £20,000 and scored 13 goals in 43 appearances in his debut season with the club.  This earned him a move to Chesterfield in League One.  After another successful season, Clucas moved to Championship side Hull City for a fee believed to be in the region of £1.3 million.

Clucas has scored nine goals in 93 appearances since signing for Hull two years ago but could leave the club for Premier League football this summer.

Whether Clucas decides to return to the Premier League this summer or not, it can’t be denied that he has had a very impressive rise.  The winger went from playing in League Two to playing in the Premier League in just over two years.
