Leeds among 3 opening weekend EFL games to be televised on Sky Sports

A total of three matches from the EFL, or particularly the Sky Bet Championship, will be shown live on Sky Sports on the opening weekend of the season. Earlier today, all 72 Sky Bet EFL clubs received their fixtures lists for the upcoming season, and Sky have been quick to pick which three are to be shown.

The games are spread across the first weekend, with the opening encounter to take place on Friday 4th August 2017, with a 7.45pm kick-off. The Championship season continues the following day, including another televised encounter at 5.30pm. Rounding off a no doubt pulsating weekend of action will be a Sunday clash kicking off at 4.30pm.

So then, now we have kept you waiting long enough, it is best we let you know which three matches are to be televised on the opening weekend of the Sky Bet Championship.

Starting with…….

Sunderland v Derby County (Friday 4th August, 7.45pm)

Once the fixtures came out, this was one which stood out on the opening weekend. Both sides will have really aspirations of getting back into the Premier League, although Derby have had a considerably longer wait! Nevertheless, the first thing on the mind of Sunderland right now is to actually get a manager in place. A bid to lure Derek McInnes to the club from Aberdeen failed, leaving the Black Cats in something of limbo. Someone of course will be in place ahead of this game, but they’ll be keen to get the season off with a bang.

Derby begin their first full season under the stewardship of Gary Rowett. Big things are expected of the Rams, especially led by arguably the best manager at this level. Squad changes will take place over the coming weeks as the ex-Birmingham City boss looks to assemble a side capable of promotion. Curtis Davies joining from Hull City is already a real statement of intent.
