Clotet remains favourite as Spaniard set to stay at Leeds

Pep Clotet remains the favourite for the Leeds United job as James Beattie is set to join Middlesbrough alongside Garry Monk.

According to Sky Bet, Clotet remains the 5/4 favourite for the position, despite Leeds coach James Beattie reportedly joining Garry Monk if he accepts the manager’s role at Middlesbrough.

Whilst Beattie and Monk depart the club, it is expected that Clotet will not be joining the pair in the north east.

Yesterday, The72 reported that the odds on Clotet being given the job were heavily reduced from 25/1 to 7/2.

Now, Clotet is favourite at 5/4, whilst Aitor Karanka, who was previously backed for the position, has drifted out to 5/1 from 1/4.

The 40-year-old joined the Whites shortly after Garry Monk’s appointment as Head Coach last summer, taking up the role as Monk’s right-hand man.

Clotet has enjoyed spells as a coach in both Sweden and Spain before he joined the backroom staff at Premier League outfit Swansea City.

Former Premier League winning manager Claudio Ranieri is back in the running as second favourite to take over at the club.

Ranieri’s odds currently stand at 7/2, crashing down from 14/1 yesterday, making him the second favourite to be offered the role at Elland Road.

The former Leicester man guided the Foxes to an historic 5000/1 Premier League title during the 2015/16 season, beating Arsenal and Tottenham to claim the trophy.

On the pitch, Leeds United are joint-favourites to secure the signature of Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths.

The Whites are priced at 6/1 to bring the Scottish forward to Elland Road before the conclusion of the summer transfer window, the same price as Championship rivals Wolves.

Griffiths played a part in an historic season for Celtic, with the club going undefeated as they stormed their way to the Scottish title and Cup success.

In 38 appearances in all competitions, the 26-year-old scored 18 goals and assisted a further 15. Five of those goals came in the Champions League campaign.
