Sky Bet Championship side Cardiff City have agreed terms with two Sky Bet League one players.
Walsall goalkeeper Neil Etheridge and Rochdale midfielder Nathaniel Mendez-Laing will join the club when their contracts expire at their respective clubs.
The deals are subject to the completion of paper work, as well as international clearance according to the confirmation on Cardiff City’s official website.
Neil Etheridge is an experienced international, who has made over 50 appearances for his native Philippines.
He began his career at Chelsea, and has also enjoyed spells at Fulham, Bristol Rovers, Charlton Athletic and Oldham Athletic.
Speaking about the signing of Etheridge, Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock said: “We haven’t had a big goalkeeper, and this lad is 6”2,”
“He’s always come out on top when we’re talking about goalkeepers and we’re delighted that he’s agreed to sign from 1st July.
“He’s looking forward to the challenge ahead and trying to establish himself as the number one ‘keeper. He’s at a very good age and will be a very good addition to the squad.”
Cardiff City’s other signing has plenty of Sky Bet Championship experience.
He has played for Wolverhampton Wanderers, Sheffield United, Peterborough, before ending up at current club Rochdale.
Warnock also had his say on the signing of Mendez Laing. He said: “I’ve watched him this season in particular and you get hunches about players, as a manager,”
