Several Championship clubs chasing Liverpool youngster

Liverpool’s young midfielder Kevin Stewart is attracting a lot of interest from Sky Bet Championship clubs, and Derby County have become the latest to show an interest in the youngster.

The Derby Telegraph has reported that Gary Rowett could potentially be interested in signing the 23-year-old on a loan deal, as Stewart searches for more first team football.

However, they face a battle to sign the midfielder. A number of other Championship clubs are chasing Stewart’s signature, such as Norwich City, Aston Villa, and recently promoted Brighton.

It is reported that Premier League sides Burnley and Stoke City are also interested in the player.

Stewart has failed to make a real impact on the first team at Anfield, and his playing time has been mainly limited to cup matches.

He has played in the English Football League before. He’s enjoyed loan spells at Crewe Alexandra, Cheltenham Town, Burton Albion, and most recently Swindon Town.

The London born midfielder began his career at Tottenham Hotspur, but failed to make an appearance for the North London club.

He was released on a free in 2014, when he was snapped up by fellow Premier League side Liverpool.

He’s featured 20  times for the Reds since joining the club, mainly in cup matches, but has made a few cameo appearances as a substitute in the Premier League.

Stewart signed a new contract at Liverpool in November, which originally was going to keep him at the club until 2021, but the midfielder is desperate to get more playing time, whether that be at Anfield or elsewhere.
