The grand finale of the season for the Championship and League Two. Fans have traveled all over the country to back their sides for the last game of the season, and we have collected those numbers in one place! Below shows the attendances and results for the grand finale games of the Championship and League Two 2016/17 season.

Sky Bet Championship

Newcastle United beat the Tykes 3 – 0 which saw them leapfrog Brighton and Hove Albion after the Seagulls’ David Stockdale made an awful mistake allowing Aston Villa to equalise from a low long-range effort, and ultimately punishing them to finish the Sky Bet Championship 2016/17 season in second place.

At the bottom of the table, results for Nottingham Forest and Birmingham City, saw Blackburn Rovers become the final team to be relegated into the Sky Bet League One, despite Rovers beating Brentford 3 – 1 at Griffin Park.

Meanwhile, Norwich City showed an impressive performance, which saw them beat Ian Holloway’s side 4 – 0 on the final day of the season.

 Sky Bet League Two

A win for Portsmouth, a draw for Plymouth Argyle and a defeat for Doncaster Rovers, meant that Pompey occupied the top spot for the first time all season, and that is all the time they required as they were crowned champions of Sky Bet League Two.

At the bottom of the table, a last gasp winner for Newport County saw the Welsh side save their English Football League status, banishing Hartlepool United to relegation out of the Football League for the first time since 1921.

Meanwhile, wins for Blackpool for Carlisle United saw them join Exeter City and Luton Town in the playoffs.
