On the Easter weekend, Bolton Wanderers succumbed to a 1 – 0 away defeat against 10-men Oldham Athletic, which meant that Sheffield United were confirmed the champions of Sky Bet League One for the 2016/17 campaign.
The game at the Ricoh Arena was riddled with a unity of fan outrage and protests between Charlton Athletic and Coventry City fans in regards to their unpopular owners. On the pitch a 1 – 1 draw come full time saw Coventry City be confirmed as relegated to the Sky Bet League Two for the 2017/18 EFL campaign.
A 3 – 0 win for the Southeast London Lions against Northampton Town means that they maintained their sixth place spot, despite Southend seeing out an emphatic 4 – 0 victory against Chesterfield.
