Bournemouth v Nottingham Forest – Play-off outsiders, or a mid-table meeting

At the time of writing both of these sides hopes of sneaking into the play-offs is out of their hands, although a Forest win could see them go into the final day knowing a win over Brighton could well be enough to make the top six after spending the majority of the season in promotion contention.

SA080414spAFCBvREADING26Much like Ipswich it is a case of what might have been for the Cherries. 2 draws and a loss from their last 3 should have seen them cast adrift in the race for the play-offs, but with everyone dropping points they still have a slight chance. Nothing other than 2 wins from the final 2 games will do and by winning on Saturday they will end Forest’s renewed hopes of returning to the top 6. The home loss to Sheffield Wednesday was the first defeat at Dean Court since February. The signing of Yann Kermorgant has changed the Dorset clubs season taking them from the bottom 8 at Christmas to fighting for an unlikely play-off spot in April. The Frenchman has netted 7 goals in 7 appearances at Dean Court and will be pushing to make that 8 in 8 this weekend. He is this game’s key man.

The Nottingham Forest season to date would make a perfect Hollywood script with just the successful conclusion left to play out. With everyone dropping points back-to-back wins over the Easter weekend has thrown the Reds right back into the mix for the final play-off spot with Brighton to play at the City Ground on the final day. The force spearheading the Forest resurection is Matt Darbyshire. The forward netted a brace at Elland Road on Monday and seems to have finally proved to the Forest fans they do have a goalscoring striker in their ranks.

Score prediction: 2-0 Bournemouth win
