Villa midfielder’s injury woes continue

Sky Bet Championship club Aston Villa must do without the services of midfielder Mile Jedinak for at least three more matches as the player continues to battle against a persistent groin problem according to the Birmingham Mail.

The 32-year-old Australian international midfielder has not featured for Villa since the club’s 1-0 away defeat at local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers on 14 January and it has now been revealed that the player is a little way from regaining his fitness.

Jedinak’s first team return has been pencilled in for the home fixture with Derby County on Saturday 25 February although that is largely dependant upon the niggling injury finally beginning to heal.

The midfielder signed for Villa from Premier League outfit Crystal Palace in August 2016 for a reported transfer fee of £4 million. Jedinak has played an important role for Villa since his move to Villa Park with the player making 22 appearances for the club in all competitions.

Jedinak is no stranger to success in the Sky Bet Championship with the midfielder having helped former club Crystal Palace into the top flight via the Play Offs in 2012/2013 and the player will be looking to repeat his success with his new club.

A turbulent season at Villa Park sees the club sitting in 14th position in the table, 13 points behind the division’s top six.
