Queens Park Rangers v Nottingham Forest

For the majority of the season it looked as though these two teams could be destined for a play off show down, but with Forest’s recent collapse they have a lot to do to salvage their season.

557845296Q.P.R. have only themselves to blame for missing out on an automatic promotion spot. Despite a number of injuries to key players they still should have had enough quality within their squad to be nearer to Burnley than the current thirteen point gap.  It is all about building form for the play offs and coming off the back of back-to-back away defeats at Bournemouth and Blackburn, it is imperative that Rangers get back to winning ways. Charlie Austin is slowly returning to match fitness after two substitute appearances and will probably be on the bench again. The young starlet Ravel Morrison has only improved his reputation since joining Rangers on loan. Five goals and an assist from his eleven games is a great return and he is this game’s key man.

Much like Rangers, Forest have been plagued by injuries, although can have no complaints after failing to strengthen in January with the need for a striker obvious to anyone that has watched the Reds this season. Gary Brazil’s task is a difficult one. With just five games left he has to lift the players and try and get some sort of form together to keep in contention of the play offs. The appointment of Stuart Pearce taking over at the end of the season gave a clear signal to fans, if they had not done so already, to write off the campaign. Without a win in two months Forest could well end up outside the top ten. The only positive in recent weeks has been the return of Henri Lansbury from injury and fans will be hoping he can reignite his early season form that made him a creative menace.
