As the caretaker manager after Ronnie Moore’s dismissal, John McMahon is likely to be seen as a quick and easy appointment. McMahon began his coaching career at Tranmere in the late 20th century, where he remained for eight years, including two spells as caretaker manager. In June 2006 John moved to Shrewsbury as assistant, whilst studying for his UEFA Pro Licence. He also had a period as caretaker manager at Shrewsbury in 2008. In June 2009, McMahon was made reserve team manager at Liverpool, he remained at Liverpool until March 2011. In June 2011 he returned to Tranmere, and is still there now. As caretaker manager at Tranmere, McMahon has helped picked up 11 points. McMahon would be an ideal appointment for the short term at least, due to his large knowledge of the squad already.
