5 great FA Cup upsets of recent years

1) Manchester United v Leeds United

Jermaine-Beckford-001

In 2009 the FA cup third round draw didn’t disappoint, these two old enemies were drawn to play each other in the pick of the FA cup games that year. Some Leeds fans may take issue with this victory being branded a ‘giant killing’ but if you take in to account where Leeds were in the footballing pyramid compared to Manchester United nobody can dispute this was a huge upset. Leeds as always took a great away following with them to Old Trafford as 9,000 fans made the trip to the ‘theatre of dreams’  and they weren’t  disappointed. A single goal from Jermaine Beckford sent the Yorkshire outfit through and dumped their bitter rivals out at the 3rd round stage for the first time since 1984. Leeds’ previous game was away at Stockport County which puts in to perspective the enormity of this win in the first ‘Roses derby’ for 6 years.
