Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce is eyeing a move for Swansea City winger Modou Barrow according to the Birmingham Mail.

The 24-year-old Gambian international wide man has impressed at The Liberty Stadium this season making 19 appearances for the club.

It has been reported that the winger has a £5 million relegation release clause written into his contract with The Swans and the relegation threatened Premier League outfit could try to offload the player for a higher transfer fee during this month’s transfer window in case the club fall through the relegation trapdoor come the end of the season.

It is believed that Aston Villa boss Bruce would like to sign the winger and is hoping that the club can offer striker Jordan Ayew in a swap deal for Barrow. Ghanaian international attacker Ayew has netted three goals in 22 appearances for Villa but has not scored since mid-October. Ayew has been linked with a move away from Villa Park this month and the player may now be offered to Swansea City.

Potential Villa target Barrow signed for Swansea City from Swedish club Ostersunds BK in August 2014 for an undisclosed fee. The player has gone on to make 55 appearances for The Swans scoring two goals. Barrow has also spent time on loan at Nottingham Forest and Blackburn Rovers during his time at The Liberty Stadium.
