Ipswich Town: Boss in dramatic U-turn and says he’ll choose his own destiny

Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy has made a dramatic u-turn by stating “I’ll be the master of my own destiny” in an interview this morning.

The Tractor Boys crashed out of the Emirates FA Cup in an embarrassing manner to Vanarama National League outfit Lincoln City.

The Blues appeared to be set for extra-time but Nathan Arnold’s strike in the 91st minute sent Sincil Bank delirious as the Imps recorded a historic victory over their Football League opposition.

The Suffolk side’s boss said following their defeat that: “If the club want to sack me, so be it, and if the fans are that sick of me then that makes life difficult for me at every game.”

But 48 hours since the Tractor Boys’ exit, the former Wolves boss has since retracted his comments saying that if Owner Marcus Evans chooses not to sack him, then he’ll decide his own future at the close of the season.

“I would like to finish the season as well as we possibly can, with as many points, obviously.” he said to the East Anglian Daily Times.

“I want to get to that point in really good condition. I’ll have a year on my contract left and I’ll make a decision on what I want to do.

“What I said, I’ll decide what I want to do. I’ve got everybody telling me I should be sacked or going. I’ll be the master of my own destiny.

“Unless Marcus sacks me, which I wouldn’t be able to do anything about, I’ll be the master of my own destiny.”

The Tractor Boys travel to Hudderfield Town in an attempt to register consecutive League victories for the first time this Saturday.
