Ipswich Town: Blues sign former Sheffield Wednesday defender

Sky Bet Championship side Ipswich Town have made defender Jordan Spence their second signing of the day, according to their Club website.

The Tractor Boys have signed Spence until the end of the season – subject to paperwork – after announcing Kieffer Moore’s transfer to Portman Road from Forest Green Rovers.

The 26-year-old right-back started his career with West Ham United but ended last season in the Championship with MK Dons.

The young full-back counts Bristol City, Sheffield Wednesday, Leyton Orient and Scunthorpe United as his former employers but is unavailable to make his debut in the Emirates FA Cup replay at Lincoln City tomorrow night, however he will be eligible to play against Huddersfield this weekend.

Spence, an England U21 international, moves to Portman Road with a wealth of experience after amassing over 70 appearances at Championship level.

The Tractor Boys’ other signing, Kieffer Moore, makes the move to Suffolk from Vanarama National League side Forest Green Rovers.

Since signing in 2016 Moore has made 33 appearances, scoring seven times, but he has most recently spent time on-loan at Torquay United where he has hit prolific scoring form by netting five goals in four appearances.

The former Truro CIty and Dorchester Town front-man has previous Football League experience after playing for Yeovil Town. The Glovers were relegated from the Championship to Sky Bet League One with Moore managing to score just seven times in 50 appearances.

Both players join a struggling Ipswich side who are in a sticky situation. Mick McCarthy’s side are looming in the bottom half of the table rather than fighting for the play-offs therefore McCarthy will be hoping the duo can get the Tractor Boys back on-track.
