Norwich City: Canaries boss questions £13m bid for winger

Norwich City boss Alex Neil downplayed questions about whether Burnley had lodged a £13m for Robbie Brady this afternoon.

The Canaries are struggling in their attempt to return to the top-flight of English football and City will need to off-load players to bring fresh blood to Norfolk.

The Sky Bet Championship winger had been heavily linked with a move away from Carrow Road in the January transfer window, with some reports suggesting Burnley had made an offer.

However Canaries boss Neil said the figure offered was news to him, although he did say he has been contacted regularly over the availability of the Republic of Ireland international.

Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce is one of a number of managers who are reportedly watching the 24-year-old.

The winger first drew attention after impressing at the European Championships but Premier League champions Leicester City have also been linked to be tracking the versatile midfielder.

“How much? Okay. We have got a strong valuation of Rob after the Euros, his age, and the fact that he is versatile in his position and the scope that he has. The position remains the same,” said the Norwich City boss in his press conference ahead of the trip to Yorkshire to face Sky Bet Championship basement side Rotherham United tomorrow afternoon.

“Until a club meets our valuation he won’t be going anywhere.

“There has been contact. A lot is done through agents and what have you but nothing confirmed until a firm offer is on the table. It is not past the stage of fishing.

“Is Burnley news to me? The figure certainly is.”
