Paul Clement confirms Swansea interest in Norwich City defender

Newly appointed Swansea City manager Paul Clement has confirmed that the club are in discussions with Norwich City over the potential signing of Martin Olsson (South Wales Evening Post). The left back has played over 100 games for the Canaries but is attracting big interest from the Premier League strugglers.

Former Derby head coach Clement is looking to stamp his own authority on the Swans squad after he replacing Bob Bradley in charge of the Welsh club. In addition to PSV Eindhoven’s Luciano Narsingh and Tom Carroll of Tottenham Hotspur, Olsson remains a big transfer priority as well.

This likes set to be bad news for the likes of Neil Taylor in the Swansea squad as it looks as though a deal could go through any day now for the Swedish international. Clement says talks continue but remains hopeful,

“The two clubs are talking about that possibility. The stage it’s at we’re looking to agree the terms.”

The Sun reports that the fee believed to be agreed is something in the region of £5million, which would be double what Norwich paid to sign the player from Blackburn Rovers back in 2013. Robbie Brady, who can also play at left back, has been the subject of major interest in the January transfer window as well, with Burnley the latest club to express their interest in the Republic of Ireland international. Sunderland and Crystal Palace are also monitoring the situation with great interest as well. This could force Neil into the transfer market.
