Bristol City striker set for loan exit

Bristol City striker Diego Di Girolamo is set to be loaned out during the January transfer window according to the Bristol Post.

The 21 year old Chesterfield born striker is currently out of favour at Ashton Gate and it is believed that the player is set for a spell away from the club to gain further first team experience.

Former Italian youth international Di Girolamo joined Bristol City in the summer after agreeing to leave former club Sheffield United by mutual consent. The youngster has gone on to feature just once for his new club in a 2-1 EFL Cup win at Scunthorpe United in August.

Di Girolamo has struggled to break into the Bristol City side partly due to the attacking array of talent on show at Ashton Gate with the likes of on loan Chelsea youngster Tammy Abraham and Lee Tomlin grabbing the headlines for The Robins.

Bristol City manager Lee Johnson believes that Di Girolamo has a bright future at the club however the striker is expected to spend the second half of the season with a club in SkyBet League One. Di Girolamo has scored five goals in 29 appearances in his senior career to date but the youngster is in need of regular football to have the best chance of career progression.
