Fulham and Bristol City to swoop for Rangers forward

Fulham and Bristol City are planning to swoop for Rangers’ Martyn Waghorn according to a report from the Scottish Sun.

Over the last few months, many Rangers players have been given improved deals with Rob Kiernan, James Tavernier and Wes Foderingham all putting their pens to new contracts. However Waghorn hasn’t been offered a new contract, something the forward is very unhappy with and after showdown talks with his head coach Mark Warburton, he has declared that he wants to leave the club in the January transfer window. He went into the talks wanting a pay rise that would get him the same amount of money as the team’s stars such as Niko Kranjcar and Joe Garner, but decided he wanted to leave after he wasn’t given those terms.

And two Sky Bet Championship clubs are planning to move to sign Waghorn now that he could potentially be departing Ibrox. Fulham and Bristol City are both interested and are hoping to secure the Leicester City striker during the January transfer window, though it is unknown whether they’ll be signing him permanently or bringing him in on loan.

Fulham lost their two star strikers Ross McCormack and Moussa Dembele during the summer and while they have done OK without them, they are still looking for a top quality striker to help them score more goals. And while Bristol City may have already recruited one top quality striker this season after signing Tammy Abraham on loan, but they are still looking to sign another forward after selling Jonathan Kodjia to Aston Villa during the summer.
