Aston Villa outcast set to escape to Turkey

Aston Villa’s Micah Richards is finally set to leave the club and join Trabzonspor according to a report from Haberturk.

In 2015 Richards was seen as a big signing by then Aston Villa head coach Tim Sherwood after he decided to return to England after playing for Fiorentina for a year. However despite being made the club captain, he struggled for form and was part of the reason they ended up being relegated from the Premier League. And he hasn’t benefited from the drop down to the Sky Bet Championship as he is often left out of the first team as he hasn’t been able to improve his performances.

And it appears that Richards’ Aston Villa nightmare is about to end as he has been linked to move to Tirkey. This report suggests that Trabzonspor are interested in signing the defender as they look to add more experience to their back four. They are currently 13th in the Turkish Super Lig and are looking for recruits that will be able to help them rise up the table in the second half of the season. And for Ricjards, it could be the ideal escape to a league that is suggested to have less quality yet still attracts a rabid and excitable fan base.

Richards started his career by coming through the Manchester City academy and he soon became a regular for them. He was even able to keep his place in the first eleven after the first batch of players came in following the investment from Sheikh Mansour. However he eventually lost his spot in the first team and left the country to play for Fiorentina for a year before returning to play for Aston Villa.
