Aston Villa appoint former Brummie as new manager

Aston Villa have appointed Steve Bruce as their new manager as confirmed by their club website.

The Villains were once again looking for a new manager because after just a few months into his reign, Roberto Di Matteo was sacked as their manager following a poor start to the season which saw them win just one game. And now they have found their man after they appointed Bruce as their new manager.

Bruce is massively experienced with most of that coming in spells at Sky Bet Championship clubs. Most recently he is coming off a spell where he guided Hull City back to the Premier League at the first time of asking after beating Sheffield Wednesday in the play-off final. However one thing that is notable is that he was the manager of Birmingham City and also got them promoted into the Premier League and established in that league before eventually leaving to take control of Wigan Athletic.

Following his appointment, Bruce said: “It’s a wonderful opportunity. It is one of the big clubs of this country. To be given the opportunity to manage it is terrific.”

“I relish the challenge of trying to take the Club where it wants to go and needs to be – and try to turn around the misfortune we seem to have had over the past few years. I am absolutely delighted to have been given the chance. I hope I can do my stuff.”

Bruce will get his first chance to turn things around when they face Wolves on Saturday.
