No Aston Villa approach for Burnley boss

Premier League new boys Burnley have confirmed that they have received no contact from managerless SkyBet Championship club Aston Villa for the services of Sean Dyche according to the Lancashire Telegraph.

The 45 year old former defender guided the Lancashire club to the Premier League last season after winning the SkyBet Championship title. Dyche’s promotion with The Clarets was his second success during his time at Turf Moor after the club ended the 2013/2014 season as SkyBet Championship runners up.

Burnley were the favourites for relegation in the Premier League this season but The Clarets have started the season well and find themselves in 14th position in the table. Despite the club’s good start to the new campaign, Burnley have confirmed that they have received no interest in their manager from SkyBet Championship club Aston Villa.

Villa have been without a manager since sacking Roberto Di Matteo last week after a miserable short spell in charge at Villa Park. Burnley boss Dyche has been linked with the vacancy although former Hull City manager Steve Bruce is the current odds on favourite for the role with the bookmakers.

Experienced caretaker manager Steve Clarke has also been linked with the job although it is unlikely that he will be appointed on a permanent basis.
