Norwich City team will share responsibility for late loss

Norwich City’s Cameron Jerome has said to the club website the team will share responsibility for their late loss against Newcastle United last night.

It seemed like the Canaries were going to get a vital win over their promotion rivals Newcastle when goals from Graham Dorrans, Jerome and Jacob Murphy gave them a 3-1 lead. Even when Dwight Gayle got one back, it seemed like Norwich were going to get all three points.

However Yoann Gouffran equalised in the 95th minute after converting from close range and if that wasn’t enough of a hammer blow to Norwich, Newcastle would go on to score the winner in the 97th minute when Gayle sealed his hat trick. The win was massive as not only did Norwich miss a chance to go back to the top of the Sky Bet Championship but it saw Newcastle move up to 3rd and are now just one point off the Norfolk based side.

Talking after the match, Jerome was obviously disappointed with the result though believed they would be able to deal with it as he said: “Collectively as a team it’s not good enough.”

“It’s football so it can happen but from our point it’s sloppy. With the players we’ve got we’re capable of seeing out that game and up until the 94th minute we were comfortable really.”
“There’s a lot of experience within the team and we’ve got to manage the game between ourselves. We didn’t do that and we got punished.”
“We have to shake ourselves down now and go again on Saturday.”
