Ross McCormack optimistic ahead of Brentford clash

Following his first goal for Aston Villa infront of the famous Holte End, Ross McCormack is full of optimism ahead of the visit of Brentford.

He described the moment as “a really big thing” for him during an interview with the official Aston Villa website.

The former Fulham and Leeds United striker admitted he was disappointed not to pick up three points at home to Nottingham Forest, but insisted that the players are more than ready for Brentford.

“The boys have done their recoveries properly,” he said

“We were in again on Monday morning, we trained properly on Tuesday and we are ready to go tonight.”

Despite a poor start to the season, McCormack is optimistic about the future, but reiterated that improvements need to be made soon.

“There’s 40 games to go, so there is plenty of time but if we don’t start picking up points soon, then all of a sudden games are running out because there are three games a week.”

The optimism that McCormack has stems from the fact that Villa still have a lot of key players to come into their team.

Mile Jedinak is yet to play a game, and the same goes for Albert Adomah.

McCormack also commented on the extensive options that boss Roberto Di Matteo has going forward.

“You know if you don’t play well or get on the score sheet, then your place is at risk in the next game and it spurs you on,” said the Scotsman.
