Garry Monk urges players to get first home win

Leeds United manager Garry Monk has encouraged his players to earn all three points in their game with Blackburn tonight.

It’s already being billed as a huge six pointer at this early stage of the season, and Monk wants his players to use their frustration from their Yorkshire derby defeat to Huddersfield to motivate them.

Speaking to LUTV, Monk said; “It’s going to be another very difficult game, but we want to put the frustrations of Saturday into this game and come out in the other side with a good performance, and hopefully three points.”

The Leeds boss admitted that although disappointed with the manner of Saturday’s defeat at home to Huddersfield, it’s forgotten, and all the focus has been on tonight’s visit of Blackburn Rovers.

“Of course we were disappointed with the result on Saturday. It’s not what we wanted, but we had to dust ourselves down really quickly, because the games come thick and fast,” the Leeds boss acknowledged.

“We’ve only had two days on the training pitch, but we’ve been preparing for Blackburn and working very hard to try and get that first three points at Elland Road,”

The unity at Leeds United is clear to see. Just yesterday, Swedish defender Pontus Jansson urged his team to get all three points for Garry Monk, in a report that can be read here.

Reports suggest a victory for Monk is crucial, and despite him insisting that he has the full backing of Cellino, many football fans and pundits feel a defeat for Leeds tonight could spell the end.
