Bristol City manager demands fast start at Sheffield Wednesday.

Bristol City boss Lee Johnson has called on his players to make a quick start in their Sky Bet Championship game at Sheffield Wednesday tonight.

Despite a good start to the season, Bristol City have been slow starters, and Johnson feels they’re due the first goal, having only netted first once so far this season.

“The tide has to turn and we’d like that to start now,” the City boss told the Bristol Post.

“We are getting there. I think everyone can see this is now a team that plays with my style. The last few games have shown that we are nearly there,” he added.

Few people can doubt the character that Johnson’s Bristol City side show.

They’ve come from behind to record victories over both Wigan and Aston Villa.

Perhaps their most impressive comeback was from two goals down at Rotherham at the weekend, and Johnson explained that he had prepared the team for such an event.

“A lot of our preparation from the Rotherham United game was focussed on ‘what if’ and that really helped us to get a result,” Johnson said.

“We could easily have gone under at 2-0 down, but the players’ mind set prevented them from becoming frustrated, which also kept the fans on our side.”
