Aston Villa were made to settle for a point as Nottingham Forest battled back to record a 2-2 draw in a thoroughly entertaining SkyBet Championship clash at Villa Park.
After a goalless first half, the second half sprung into life when the visitors opened the scoring just before the hour through an Apostles Vellios strike.
Villa fought back and a quick fire double from Ross McCormack and Rudy Gestede saw the match swing back in Roberto Di Matteo’s side’s favour before the home side suffered late heartbreak when Henri Lansbury bagged a late equaliser. The match ended on a sour note when Forest midfielder Hildeberto Pereira was dismissed after picking up a second booking two minutes before full time.
After seeing their side come so close yet so far to three points on derby day, Villa fans took to Twitter to give their views on the match.
To those saying we had no creativity today, how many chances did we create & miss again? The wins will come I'm convinced of it #avfc

So disappointing as we played so well. Have to be more clinical + ruthless at both ends of the pitch.. Plenty to enjoy about our play. #avfc
