Wolves trio set to leave before 11pm deadline

The Express & Star reports that Wolverhampton Wanderers trio Ethan Ebanks-Landell, James Henry and Nathan Byrne are all expected to leave the Molineux club before the 11pm transfer deadline.

Centre back Ebanks-Landell is in discussions with Sheffield United, winger Henry is talking to Charlton Athletic and Bolton Wanderers, whilst Byrne is expected to seal a move to Wigan Athletic.

Walter Zenga has been busy adding to his Wolves squad ever since his shock appointment a week before the Championship season kicked off, but he is now looking to decrease the large numbers in his squad on Deadline Day.

Ebanks-Landell is making his comeback after a serious injury and is now in need of first-team football to improve his fitness. Wolves are happy for him to discuss a loan move away, with Bramall Lane said to be his most likely destination. Richard Stearman re-joining the club makes it harder for him to break back into the team.

Henry has been pushed further down the pecking order after the recent arrivals of Ola John, Helder Costa and Ivan Cavaleiro, so he is unlikely to feature any time soon. Plus, James Wallace has enjoyed a fine start to the season as well. The 27-year-old is likely to drop into League One.

Byrne has been out of favour for some time with the club, not just under Zenga, but previous head coach Kenny Jackett as well. Big things were expected of him when signing from Swindon Town for £500,000 last summer but Wigan look set to snap the player up in the coming hours.
