Assombalonga injury nothing to worry about says Montanier

Nottingham Forest manager Philippe Montanier is confident that star striker Britt Assombalonga’s injury is not serious according to the Nottingham Post.

After opening the scoring in Saturday’s 4-3 victory over Wigan Athletic at The City Ground, Assombalonga limped off the pitch after feeling a twinge in his leg.

The 23 year old Zaire born forward was ruled out of action for 14 months in February 2015 after sustaining a serious injury in a match which coincidentally was also against Wigan Athletic. After watching his star man pick up his latest injury, Nottingham Forest manager Philippe Montanier has confirmed that Assombalonga could be ruled out of action for a short period of time but his latest injury does not appear to be a reoccurrence of his serious knee injury.

Assombalonga’s injury will be assessed early this week but the club are hoping to report that it is nothing more than a tweak of a hamstring and that the player may only be looking at weeks out of action rather than months.

Only Burton Albion have netted more goals in the opening fixtures of the SkyBet Championship this season than Nottingham Forest with Britt Assombalonga already finding the back of the net three times in four league matches.
