Aston Villa

Former Barcelona midfielder demands Villa exit

Spanish winger Adama Traore has rocked Championship outfit Aston Villa by demanding a move away from Villa Park before the end of the summer transfer window, reports the Birmingham Mail.

Reports suggest Traore informed Villa boss Roberto Di Matteo of his decision having been left out of the starting XI for the 3-0 win over Rotherham United last weekend.

Those talks led to Traore being left out of the squad altogether for the midweek draw with Huddersfield Town and now Villa will listen to offers for the 20-year-old, whom they purchased for £7-million just 13 months ago.

Traore’s £60,000 per week wages are likely to be a huge stumbling block for interested English parties, although the rumour mill linked the winger with a sensational return to the Nou Camp as recently as April.

Although Villa fans were eager to see the player strut his stuff in the Championship, a succession of Villains’ bosses have seen fit to make the midfielder a fringe player in their plans.

Villa owner Tony Xia took to Twitter to say:

Traore, who made one La Liga appearance for Barcelona as a 17-year-old, has made just one start for Villa, in a League Cup victory over Notts County last season.
