Championship Midweek Preview

Leicester City v Yeovil Town

Manager, Nigel Pearson, spent time in hospital over the weekend although he hopes to be in the dugout this evening and his Leicester side continued their charge for promotion and the Championship title with a hard fought draw at Ewood Park on Saturday. With 2nd placed Burnley picking up a victory at Charlton the gap at the top was cut to just 5 points, although the Foxes still have a game in hand. A 15 point gap separates leaders Leicester and 3rd placed Derby, meaning the Foxes need just 5 wins from their last 10 to secure promotion. Riyad Mahrez has been outstanding in recent weeks on the wing and has proved a great addition to the squad since joining in January. Leicester have not lost since the 7th December and all form guides will show that this run is set to continue against Yeovil.

Huddersfield v Yeovil 291213Yeovil could have easily propped up the division after a baron run of 8 defeats in 9 games over the winter months. Spring has showed new leases of life throughout the Yeovil squad as they have lost just 2 of their last 9 games since that aforementioned run of defeats. The Glovers have been consistent in the fact that they have given every side in the division a game, if not getting results, when many predicted they would be the whipping boys of the division. Hopes of survival still look against the odds, but weirder things have happened this season and that could continue with a positive result tonight. It is surprising that the form of Ishmael Miller has not seen him recalled by parent club Nottingham Forest who have struggled to find the net this season. Yeovil will remain grateful, however, and Miller is this game’s key man.

Score prediction: 3-1 Leicester win
