Reading make move for Leicester City defender

Championship side Reading have submitted a £1 million bid for Leicester City defender Liam Moore, according to the Leicester Mercury’s Rob Tanner.

The 23-year-old spent part of last season on-loan at Championship side Bristol City, where he featured on 10 occasions.

Moore did not feature in any Premier League games during the 2015/16 campaign and did not play a part in the title-winning Leicester City side.

The central defender boasts a wealth of experience at senior level, having played in 61 Sky Bet Championship games, 17 League Two games, 11 Premier League fixtures and seven games in League One.

So far this summer, Reading have added Roy Beerens, Danzell Gravenberch, John Swift, Joey van den Berg, Anssi Jaakkola, Yakou Méïté and Joseph Mendes.

Reading finished the 2015/16 season in 17th place in the Sky Bet Championship table, accumulating 52 points in 46 games in England’s second tier.

New boss Jaap Stam will be aiming to improve on last season’s position, and has reportedly identified Moore as a player that will improve his playing squad.

Reading host Preston North End on the first day of the Sky Bet Championship season on the 6th August. The Royals then host Plymouth in the League Cup before travelling to the Molineux to face Wolves.
