Forest to host matches but face capacity restriction

Nottingham Forest are permitted to host football matches at The City Ground once again after the club appointed a safety certificate holder following talks with Nottinghamshire County Council according to the Nottingham Post.

The capacity of The City Ground was recently reduced to nil after the club were found guilty of not having a suitable safety certificate holder following a safety audit by the local authorities.

With the kick off of the new Championship season now a little over a week away, there had been concerns that the matter would not be resolved in time however it has now been confirmed that a safety certificate holder is in place and the club can host their first fixture at the ground on Saturday when they face Hull City in a pre-season friendly.

Although Forest have received the green light from Nottinghamshire County Council, The Reds must host matches with capacity restrictions for the time being. The current capacity of The City Ground is 30,445 however Forest are only permitted to sell 24,357 tickets for each fixture until further safety concerns are resolved.

It is understood that the restriction will be dropped once a number of issues are resolved. These issues are understood to include the quality of facilities for disabled supporters, planning of regular health and safety meetings and updating the club’s health and safety policy.

Forest’s first home fixture in the Championship will be held on Saturday 6 August when the club welcome new boys Burton Albion to The City Ground.
