Aston Villa keeper start talks with Middlesbrough

Aston Villa’s Brad Guzan has begun talks with Middlesbrough over a potential move according to a report from Sky Sports.

With Villa signing Pierluigi Gollini this summer, Guzan has found himself out in the cold after a season where he was criticised by the fan base for the standard of his performances. Now though it looks like he will be departing after he begun talks with Middlesbrough over a potential move.

The Teesside club have already signed one goalkeeper this summer with Victor Valdes moving from Manchester United already in this transfer window. While Valdes is expected to be the number one, the management hope that Guzan’s experience of the Premier League will make him into a good back up for the Spaniard.

Should talks go well, it is expected that the deal can be completed very soon. The management are actually confident that they can sign him before the weekend, meaning that Guzan’s first game in a Middlesbrough shirt may be a rematch against Villa in Saturday’s pre-season friendly at Villa Park.

Villa have already shipped out plenty of players since they were relegated from the Premier League with Benjamin Siegrist, Callum Robinson, Jose Angel Crespo, Carles Gil, Charles N’Zogbia, Kieran Richardson and Janoi Donacien all leaving Villa Park this summer.
