Bristol City sign Juventus defender

Bristol City have signed Hordur Magnusson from Juventus for an undisclosed fee as confirmed by the club website.

The 23-year-old defender, who can play in the centre and left of defence, is coming off the back of being in the Iceland squad for Euro 2016 where they made history by making the quarter finals, beating England on the way. He however never made an appearance and watched the entire tournament from the bench. But despite that he attracted the attention of the Robins and has now completed a move there after signing a three year contract.

Magnusson comes to Bristol City with plenty of pedigree. After coming through the academy of Icelandic club Fram, he was signed up by Juventus due to his potential. He never made an appearance for the Italian giants though and his first team experience came when he was loaned out to Spezia and Cesena. After three years at Juventus though it became apparent he wouldn’t become a first teamer for them and they were willing to sell him to Bristol City this summer.

He becomes Bristol City’s fourth signing of the summer. Players who have also joined the team at Ashton Gate this summer are Lee Tomlin, Gary O’Neil and Josh Brownhill.
