4 things we learned about League 2 this weekend

The race for seventh is heating up

york-city-scunthorpe-oct-2013With Oxford and Southend continuing to drop points, the teams just outside of the relegation zone are looking the most likely to finish the season in the top seven. It wasn’t too long ago that York were looking at a relegation scrap, but a remarkable run over the winter months has seen them fly up to eighth in the league and they are now level on points with out-of-form Southend, on 52. Plymouth are another team who will be confident of pushing on towards the top seven after a very respectable five wins in their last eight and with a game in hand, and the extremely potent Rueben Reid, they have a very realistic chance of getting there. Hartlepool will be hoping Luke James and Marlon Harewood will strengthen their promotion hopes over the following weeks but the top seven may be a step too far for Cheltenham and Morecambe, who are 11th and 12th respectively.
