Bristol City: Kodjia going nowhere but expect bids

The Bristol Post understands that Bristol City are under no pressure to sell star striker Jonathan Kodjia. The Championship club are however bracing themselves for bids, with Derby County being heavily linked to the Ivory Coast international.

Kodjia enjoyed a superb debut season in English football after being signed by Steve Cotterill last summer. His 19 goals played a major part in the club avoiding instant relegation back into League One.

His exploits attracted the attention of his international team, and he made his debut with Ivory Coast last year. Kodjia has already found the back of the net for his country as well.

It is believed only silly money would even tempt Bristol City to cash in or their star player. They signed him from Angers for £1.2million, and they would probably only be interested in ten times that figure.

The striker has been granted an extra week of holiday this summer compared to the rest of the squad. This is because of his international achievements in the last couple of months. He is expected back towards the end of the week.

Owner Steve Lansdown is adamant that the player won’t be allowed to leave without a fight. There have been no indications that Kodjia is indeed looking to leave the football club. Nevertheless, his fine scoring record means that other clubs will naturally be interested, including from a higher level.
