After five years away, Brighton set to re-sign striker on loan

Sky Sports understands that Glenn Murray is set to re-join Brighton & Hove Albion on a season-long loan. The AFC Bournemouth striker spent just over three years with the Seagulls between 2008 and 2011, scoring 56 goals.

Chris Hughton is looking to bolster his forward options at the Amex Stadium. With Bobby Zamora leaving and James Wilson’s loan ending, Murray is seen as the perfect option for Brighton to improve their striking options.

Sources indicate that the deal should be completed inside the next 24 hours. Last season Murray joined Bournemouth for £4million from Crystal Palace. Since then, he has scored four goals for the club, although he has mainly been a substitute. The season before he spent time on loan at Reading in the Championship. He scored eight goals in 18 games.

The last full season he played at Championship level he scored 30 times for Crystal Palace as they earned promotion into the top flight. Injuries have haunted him on a few occasions in the last few years. He will be hoping his return to Brighton doesn’t see those problems reoccur.

The video below shows Murray finding the net twice as a substitute during his last spell with the club. He helped the Seagulls seal a fine 4-1 home victory against Millwall. This was when they played their football at the Withdean Stadium.
