Brentford captain set to sign for QPR

QPR are set to sign Brentford’s Jake Bidwell according to a report from Get West London.

The R’s had made the 23-year-old defender one of their key targets for the summer but it appeared to be off when the Bees were demanding £2.5m despite the fact that his contract was set to expire next summer.

But QPR kept negotiating with Brentford and now that they have come to an agreement on a £1.3m fee, it appears that the move will be completed in the coming days and the West London club will have completed the poaching of their rival club’s captain.

And Bidwell isn’t the only defender who is set to switch to playing at Loftus Road on a more regular basis next season. QPR have had an offer from Huddersfield Town accepted for Joel Lynch after a similar protracted negotiated period and they look to complete that deal in the coming days as well. With both of those players coming in it would be the start of a new look defence for the West London club which they hope will help them get promoted back to the Premier League.

Bidwell signed for Brentford back in 2013 from Everton after a number of impressive loan spells with them.
