Striker set to become the first of several Forest arrivals

Nottingham Forest are closing in on the signing of Greek striker Apostolos Vellios according to the Nottingham Post.

It is understood that the 24 year old former Everton striker is set to complete a move to The City Ground on Wednesday after Forest agreed a reported €1.2 million transfer fee for the player with Greek club Iraklis.

It is thought that the signing of Vellios will be the first of at least five or six new arrivals at the club over the next four to six weeks with French winger Floyd Ayite also being linked with a move to the Midlands.

After spending well over three months without a permanent manager, Forest appointed Frenchman Philippe Montanier as the club’s new head coach on Monday. Montanier’s appointment ends weeks of delays in the club’s chase for a new manager and with Forest playing catch up ahead of the new season, the arrivals door at The City Ground is expected to become very busy over the next few weeks as the club make up for lost time.

The Forest squad returned to pre-season training on Monday morning and are set to undergo a period of bonding with new boss Montanier set to take his players to Scotland at the weekend for a pre-season training camp.
