Blackburn Rovers set to loan West Ham youngster

Blackburn Rovers are close to completing the loan signing of West Ham’s Stephen Hendrie according to a report from the Daily Mail via HITC Sport.

The young full back signed for the Hammers last summer from Scottish club Hamilton for 1m but is yet to break into the first team. The only time he was able to play some competitive football was when he had a short loan spell with Southend United where he made five appearances.

And while that didn’t mean much time on the pitch, it impressed Blackburn manager Owen Coyle enough to try and sign him on loan. And according to this report, they are close to competing that deal as they plan to sign Hendrie on loan until the end of the season.

This continues a summer of rebuilding for Blackburn under new manager Coyle. Since being relegated from the Premier League, the Lancashire club have had a number of disappointing seasons and they have never even challenged for promotion back to the top tier. The rebuilding started when they signed Anthony Stokes from Celtic on a free transfer and there are set to be even more players coming to Ewood Park in the coming weeks.
