Oldham Athletic to face winding up petition

Oldham Athletic are facing a winding up petition brought by HMRC as confirmed by the club website.

The Latics have had a number of financial issues over the last issue after it was revealed back in December they were have problems paying their players and then it was reported that the squad had been paid late for three months in a row.

And those financial problems have hit their peak now it has been revealed that the club are set to go to court on Monday to hear a winding up petition against them.

Oldham told their fans in a club statement that they are aware of the issue but have tried to ease fears.

They said,

“The liability on which the petition is based was paid in full last month.”

Despite the fact it seems to be nothing to worry about for Oldham fans, it’s probably going to reduce positivity for the forthcoming season even lower.

The club were dealt a huge blow early on in the off season when their manager John Sheridan, who had managed to save them from relegation last season, decided to leave the club and drop down a league to become the head coach of Notts County. They are still without a manager, though Steve Evans is expected to be appointed very soon.
