Bolton Wanderers set to emerge from transfer embargo

Bolton Wanderers are set to emerge from their current transfer embargo and could be free to make signings as early as the end of this month, according to Ken Anderson in the Bolton News.

Ken Anderson, Bolton Wanderers co-owner, has claimed that the club are on course to come out of the embargo at the end of the month, and that new signings are imminent.

It is understood that new boss Phil Parkinson has been given a list of potential signings but will also be free to make his own suggestions to the board.

The new Bolton owners have had to take on several unexpected costs to do with the transfer embargo since they took over the club in March.  This has dragged out the process of removing the embargo from Bolton.  The club will meet with Football League officials next week and if the meeting goes to plan, Bolton will be free to sign players again.

Anderson wants the embargo removed by the start of pre-season and believes that the club can achieve this goal.  He said: “The finances are in place. Accounts are waiting to be signed off but that aspect has not been easy and that is what has taken up a lot of the time.

“We are confident when we are legally able to sign players once again, we will do so but in the meantime we are talking with agents etc.

“We have given Phil a list of players who may be available from our scouts but of course he’ll have his own thoughts on what he needs and we will work with him on that.”

Bolton had a disastrous season last year, finishing bottom of the Championship and suffering relegation to League One.  However with new owners and a new manager now in place, fans will be optimistic going into August and the new season.
