Terriers poised to end chase of Forest striker

Huddersfield Town could be set to end their chase of Nottingham Forest striker Jamie Paterson according to the Huddersfield Examiner.

The West Yorkshire club have endured weeks of frustration in trying to sign the player as a result of Forest’s ongoing takeover and lack of manager and it is understood that The Terriers could now abandon their chase of the striker and turn their attentions to other targets.

Paterson joined Huddersfield Town on a season long loan deal on 1 September 2015 with a view to a permanent deal and has gone on to score eight goals in 36 appearances for the club. Town head coach David Wagner has expressed a desire in keeping the striker at The John Smith’s Stadium permanently while Paterson is thought to also want to remain with The Terriers.

The striker joined Nottingham Forest from Walsall in July 2013 and has gone on to make 66 appearances at The City Ground scoring 13 goals. The player has struggled to feature regularly for the Forest first team in recent times resulting in his loan move to Huddersfield Town.

With Forest currently without a manager, the club are expecting to allow their new boss to assess the current squad before making decisions on some players’ futures which means that Paterson may have one more opportunity to impress at the club.
